A big thank you to my friend Amy!!!!

By January 22, 2012 How do I categorize this?

I had big plans for this evening…bring in the laundry, work on a painting, watch a movie, make a really yummy sandwich with pastrami on ciabatta bread. It was going to be a very nice relaxing evening. You get the picture. That was all before I went and did something really dumb!

Never attempt to slice ciabatta bread (or anything for that matter) while talking on the phone. (At least put it down and on speaker). Something my brain should have told me before I did it. Dumb! Dumb! Dumb! Long story short…knife jumps off of bread and lands on finger. It’s a good thing that fingers have bones to stop knives. It is also a good thing that I was using the serrated bread knife and not the chef’s knife. 🙂

I now send a very big round of applause to my good friend Amy who so kindly dropped everything to come to my rescue with first aid supplies and a set of fully functioning hands. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

What doing something dumb leads to!
I left off the blurry picture of the actual cut. Thought that would be just too much information. 🙂

    Holy smacks! No stitches necessary?

  • If I had gone to the emergency room they probably would have done stitches. However, at 7pm on Saturday night with a cut finger I would have sat waiting in the ER all night long. We cleaned and bandaged it good. I talked to my pharmacist today and he told me what to watch for as signs that I need to go to the doctor. I'm sure I will have a scar since I didn't go get the stitches.

Well of course I would've come to help! If I hadn't & your finger fell off, I would've felt guilty every time I saw your gimp hand. Hahaha 🙂
