a musical thought…

By October 7, 2010February 20th, 2015How do I categorize this?

I just finished posting a comment to a discussion board in my Introduction to Music class. I thought I would share some of it here:

“I was once analyzing my favorite movies to see what if anything they had in common. The one common denominator that I came up with was the soundtrack. Each movie has a soundtrack that impressively promotes the moods of the scenes in the film. The music carries me as the viewer into the feelings of the characters helping me to experience the film in a way that would never be possible without the music. The musical score can stir emotions such as fear, excitement, longing, sadness or even joy. Haven’t you ever watched a movie that just left you smiling? I’d bet if you stop to analyze it, the background music helped increase the effect. I’m also convinced that a movie which leaves you scared or nervous has appropriate music to create that feeling as well.”
