Yay me! First electrical project completed all by my little self! Can I get a woo-hoo?!? The old thermostat had been a little touchy but then decided to out and out die on me. Thanks to the great folks on the Airstream forums, I realized that it wouldn’t be too complicated to upgrade mine. Although I was nervous that the problem could be something more serious in the furnace, I thought I would first try a thermostat replacement. The upside to this option being I would have a programmable thermostat (Awesome on cold mornings!). Also, it was an inexpensive option-no specialty thermostat needed. A simple programmable digital thermostat like found at Home Depot can work in an RV as long as it is battery powered. Around $20 and about 30 minutes of actual work later I have a new thermostat and all is warm and well in the tin can.

And oh the best thing ever for sleeping in a tin can! Cut the heat down low and turn this baby on low. Love it! However, I should have spent a few more dollars for the model with a timer that will turn it off after a couple of hours. This thing will bake me!
